Beauty & Bubbles

On July 29th, 2023, we had our first Beauty & Bubbles event. It was a beautiful small gathering to not only continue our mission to raise awareness around the cost of breast cancer and our mission to help women in need with that financial burden, but also recognize two breast cancer survivors. Yanira Hurtado and Monserrat Lino are both two beautiful Latina women that have fought breast cancer and were able to share the financial hardship that can come with a breast cancer diagnosis.

"We all know how expensive cancer treatment is. Roughly $130,000 went into my active treatment. I like to say I got "the works" of cancer treatment because of my late stage diagnosis. Nobody really talks about the cost of post cancer treatment though. This can last up to 10 years or longer. One of my medications alone that I have to be on for the next two years is $6,000 a month. This adds up to $144,000 in total!" - Yanira Hurtado

"Just a monthly shot of Perjeta and Herceptin is $4,000 a month. This is a financial hardship and insurance does not cover 100%. I applied to so many organizations private and public to only receive letters "We apologize but you do not qualify due to age or we have run out of funds for this type of cancer." - Monserrat Lino

Thank you ladies for helping shed light on the sad realities and ugly truth that a lot of people do not realize. It was a joy to honor the both of you at our event, to have you seen and heard and share your important stories.
